HUJAN I
It was raining heavily that evening. I
sheltered myself under a small bus stop. Pulled myself together as it was a bit
chilly. My mahallah was about another 500 meters from here. I just could sprint
away to go there but I refused because I did not want to get wet. Silly me who
decided not to bring my small umbrella this morning just because it would cause
me too many things to carry. Sitting there alone, I just scrolled through the
posts on my Instagram timeline, and viewed some tweets on Twitter.
‘Huh, I am
so bored. When is the rain going to stop?’, I murmured.
“Oh, shoot!
My clothes that I hung at the clothesline! Supposedly, all of it got wet
again.”, I sighed.
As the rain
poured heavily, I saw a girl walking through it happily. She let herself get
wet under the downpour. As soon she arrived and sat next to me, I asked her,
“Why did you let yourself wet? You might catch cold you know.”
She
replied, “MashaAllah, sister. The rain is rahmat from Allah. Why did I have to
resist myself from His rahmat? Allahumma Soyyiban Nafi’a!”
I was
stunned.
It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be
pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah
(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saw
rain, he would say: “Allahumma sayyiban naafi‘an {O
Allah, (make it) a beneficial downpour).”
